I prepared a PowerPoint that had key points, fun facts, quotes, and cool pictures. The reason I thought to add a PowerPoint is because there was so much to say and not enough time to say it, and it helped sum up the information and add cool features to it.
Doing the Formal Outline helped a lot with the research and overall organization for the Informative speech.
Since my speech had too much information I had to cut down the information to what mattered most. This being our first big speech I can agree that it was challenging. I think that because I was so excited to present and show off all my hard work, I started panicking and forgetting my key points.
Hours before the actual class I decided to make cards to make sure I state everything.
I spend a good amount of time practicing the speech in front family and friends. Next time I will make note cards just in case I do need them.
I had great preparation for this speech, and honestly cannot explain why I panicked and had anxiety so bad.
I think that caused me to shake lots, and the posture I was standing in with my legs crossed caused me to not be balanced. I think that my voice and overall speech was ok, but I did expect much more from myself because I prepared so hard for it.
I did forget to state some of the things but overall I think I did very well. My biggest problem was not being able to breathe properly and thinking of myself and forgetting at times to think about the audience.
Overall I think I did pretty well with citing my sources, and I supported my points with quotes, facts, and visual. Because the breathing and panicking I feel as if I blacked out throughout the whole speech.
I am a little disappointed because I spend weeks practicing and memorizing, I knew everything perfectly, and I feel that I could have done better. There is always room for improvement. I think that the beginning of the speech, when I got the whole class involved was pretty awesome and cool way to start it off.
I liked the way I ended my speech also because I saw lots shaking heads and thinking expressions from the ending quote. For the next speech I will make note cards and everything needed! Therefore I think for the next one I like to challenge myself and present in front the Speaking Center to teachers and students.
I worked very hard for this speech and I think did fairly well. In order to increase my own satisfaction with speeches I think I need more practice in front of others.
Another thing I noticed is while practicing at home I was moving hands and smiling and looking confident, but while presenting my speech I kept trying to get away from the podium up front but could not move.
